CEB cuts supply to former minister’s house and office

By Hiran Priyankara Jayasinghe

The electricity supply to the late Minister D. M. Dassanayake’s house and office located in Anamaduwa, was disconnected last week as bills had not been paid, a Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) official said.
A CEB official said the former Minister’s unpaid household bill was Rs. 4,121,980, while the unpaid bill of the premises where the office of the former Minister was located stood at Rs. 4,130,082.
It was also revealed that the bills had not been settled for more than 10 years.

Mr. Dassanayake who served as the Non-Cabinet Minster for Nation Building was killed last January after a claymore bomb exploded in Ja Ela targeting his motorcade when he was on his way to Parliament from his home in Anamaduwa. He died after being admitted to hospital.
