Even the quality of junior girl’s rugby has improved tremendously as was evident at a recent tournament held.

The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association along with the Sabaragamuwa Rugby Football Union organized an under 14 and under 16 girl’s seven-a-side rugby tournament. The standard of rugby dished out and the turn out was amazing as all the competitors realized a miracle has happened and their efforts would be recognized.
The tournament was held at K. V. Grounds in Talduwa.
In the under 14 tournament 16 teams took part with Nugawela winning the Cup. They defeated Galapaya by 10 points to nil in the final. Dadanduwa took the Plate, beating Thorakolayaya by five points to nil while the bowl went to Embilitiya who triumphed over Pallakanugala by ten points to nil.
In the under 16 tournament girls Rohana Balika took the Cup with a ten nil victory over Malittha MV, the Plate was won by Pallakanugala who eased past Ambanpola by 14 points to nil and the Bowl went Seethwaka who easily defeated Galpaya by 17 points to nil.
