A very heavy pre-Christmas cheer just for the rockers and metal heads will be staged on December 21. Silent night Chaos night will be the first gig organized by Stigmata www.myspace.com/stigmatasrilanka) after a two month hiatus from live gigs.
This, the Stigs have assured us is not due to anything but the fact that that they have been working on recording they're much anticipated third album.
The Underground, formerly Club Nuovo, is the hot new club in town which will provide the fitting atmosphere for the evening.
Silent night Chaos night will also be the first metal gig to take place at this venue after its newest image makeover. The bands for the night. Also making an appearance after a while will be Thrash Metallers Tantrum. (www.myspace.com/tantrumsl) who will be playing their first show with a new guitarist. A new addition to the Metal community, as this will be his debut metal gig.
Hela Black Metallers Funeral in Heaven (www.myspace.com/funeralinheaven) will be another band that will be taking the stage at this event. These guys are no strangers to the local metal community, being the first band to incorporate black metal music with traditional Sri Lankan history and folklore, FIH promises to deliver a Bone breaking set for all their fans.
Also making an appearance at the gig will be LOA (www.myspace.com/loamelodeat), a gothic/ Melo Death Metal outfit who incidentally happens to be Sri Lankas first metal band fronted by a female growler. Certainly a must see for all who haven't checked them out yet.
This gig will also serve another very special purpose. Stigmata was due to release their third record in 2008. however due to many unforeseeable circumstances the release of the album has been pushed to 2009. But as a tiny surprise, the stigs will release their first single from the upcoming third record (still unnamed), "A Dead rose wails for light" which will be distributed free at the gig.
"This single is our Christmas gift to all our friends and peers who have stuck with Stigmata through thick and thin," explained Stigs Frontman Suresh. So here it is – Stigmata, Tantrum, Funeral in Heaven and LOA making up the heavy metal cocktail with some of colombo's loudest, to add to that, the release of a new single by Sri Lanka's metal titans. And keeping with the Christmas spirit, the bands are rumored to be playing some all time Christmas classics with their own twist. These are the reasons you should not miss this event.
