Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Before the dawn of Christmas
Maneka Wijesundara (11 years) Ecole Internationale, Digana

Through the clearing of the forest,
The cottage of Santa lies still,
While he fills his sleigh with toys,
For children rich and poor
all the same.

In the mellow midnight blue,
Skittering down and through the snow,
With the jingles of bells spread to and fro,
When the sleigh pause down.

Through the chimneys Santa climbs,
With presents for children
left on beds.

Then the dawn chorus begins,
The Christmas trees glitter in grace,
And back again comes Santa Claus;
With a gracious face for a happy Christmas!
