Buckinghamshire New University called "Bucks" for convenience, is offering its MBA programme in Sri Lanka with a unique E Blackboard facility which consist of a personal tutor for Sri Lankan students says Mr. Prasanna Perera Senior lecturer in Marketing and a Management Consultant.

He further stated that Buckinghamshire New University is one of the most modern universities in UK though over one hundred years old. Being situated in close proximity to London, it is extremely popular with foreign students.
In Sri Lanka, The first MBA batch had over 30 students including very senior Managers from the private sector, and is now open for the second intake for which entries will close by 10th of February.
Perera also said that this course is very practical and is ideally constructed to suit the mangers at all levels.
Conceptual and practical techniques to are taught at the MBA for the student to use these in complex management issues. It examines functional management, explores integrated corporate strategies and management approaches.
Special electronic blackboard offers the student the opportunity to have a personal tutor from UK guiding them throughout the course. This unique system has proved extremely successful and is highly recommended for all students.
Outcome
At the successful conclusion of the course you will hold the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) said Mr. Prasanna Perera. This is a well recognised international management qualification, and qualifies you for exemptions from certain professional examinations. It also allows for entry to further postgraduate studies, including PhD programmes, as well as for academic and professional work.
Course Structure
Participants study 8 modules over two semesters as follows:
Semester One: Functional Areas
Financial Management
Explores the financial environment in which business activity takes place, the tools for financial planning and the strategic dimensions of financial decision making.
Marketing Management
Develops the participant's ability to understand and assess the management tasks required to analyse, plan and control an organisation's marketing activity.
Human Resources Management
Develops understanding of Human Resource Management using analytical frameworks. It covers the uses of employee resourcing, development and employee relations.
Operations Management
Builds an understanding and assessment of the structure of operating systems and the responsibilities of operations managers in the productions of goods and services.
Semester Two: Strategy
Markets and Strategy: develops abilities of critical analysis of organisations operating in a global and national context, drawing on integrated knowledge from prior learning and other modules. It examines theoretical frameworks and practical applications.
Management Science and Systems: gives participants an awareness of the scope and application of management science methods, particularly in problem structuring. It enables students to tackle management problems using appropriate soft and hard methodologies.
Management of Organisations: aims to explain the change process and the issues involved in making such a process either a success or failure. It also aims at developing an understanding of existing change theories and the place of such theories in the strategic context of managing organisations. It builds upon the knowledge acquired from learning the essence of each functional area and the strategic roles played by such areas.
Dissertation
As part of the course, participants have to complete a 15,000 individual dissertation on a management topic. Prior to undertaking detailed research work, participants will be asked to submit a research proposal which forms part of the assessment for this important piece of work. Where appropriate, students will be helped and encouraged to publish work based on their dissertation. All participants will be assigned an academic supervisor to support their studies.
Assessment
Assessment includes coursework and examinations. The dissertation represents one-third of the marks for the final award
Entry Requirements
Applicants for the MBA Programme should be at least 23 years of age.
Applicants should have a good Honours degree or a professional qualification and are required to have two years full time relevant business management experience.
Applications may also be accepted, subject to interview, from candidates with at least three years' relevant business management experience and necessary prior experiential learning in the functional disciplines included in Semester one of the programme.
