ICTA hands over ICT Literacy Project Plan to President


ICT Agency of Sri Lanka Chairman Professor P. W. Epasinghe officially hands over the Project Proposal of the ICT Literacy Programme to His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Taking a major step towards implementing one of the important phases in bringing development to the masses as planned in the "Mahinda Chintana", The Information & Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), the apex government body charge-with the duty of guiding and directing ICT development handed over the ICT Literacy project plan to the President recently.

The event took place in the forenoon of February 13, 2009 at the Presidential Secretariat when ICT Agency of Sri Lanka Chairman Professor P. W. Epasinghe officially handed over the Project Plan of this ICT Literacy Programme to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

In the "Mahinda Chintana" policy statement, it is pledged that the English and information technology literacy of the people of this country, especially, the youth will be raised to a substantially high level. This calls for a special effort in the form of an ICT Literacy Campaign. The objective of this campaign is to strengthen the 'e-Sri Lanka' initiative.
