Relatives of a 19-year-old Sri Lankan woman who died in Qatar are demanding a full explanation of how the deceased had died.

A post-mortem, conducted by Negombo JMO Channa Perera, revealed that the woman had died of burn injuries. The relatives, who were on their way from Vavuniya to claim the body, were held up for five days at the Medawachchiya checkpoint.

When they arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport, in Katunayake, the victim’s body had already been sent to the Negombo hospital mortuary. The body was brought to Sri Lanka on a Qatar Airways flight.

After the post-mortem, the relatives of the deceased took the body to their hometown in Sundarampuram, in Vavuniya. Airport police OIC, Chief Inspector Eric Perera, headed the investigation, assisted by Sergeant Punchibanda.
