The English Writers’ Cooperative of Sri Lanka (EWC) invites applications to a one-day seminar on Poetry and Short Story Writing on Saturday, June 27 at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Federation of University Women at 96/25, Kitulwatte Road, Colombo 8, from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
The resource persons will be University academics who will take the participants through the sessions with talks, comments and discussion.
Those interested are invited to send in their names, addresses, telephone and email addresses by June 15 to Vijita Fernando, 572/10 Welikadawatte Road, Rajagiriya with an accompanying fee of Rs. 750 (cash or cheque in favour of the Writers Cooperative of Sri Lanka) under registered cover. The number of participants will be limited to 40.
A web of political intrigue
The award-winning Sinhala play ‘Sihina Horu Aran’ directed by Rajitha Dissanayake will be staged on May 21 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. at the Elphinstone Thaetre.
Sihina Horu Aran presents a web of political intrigue and human characters enmeshed in an absorbing story. Well-known stars Jayani Senanayake and Gihan Fernando take the main roles supported by Dayadeva Edirisingha, Prasad Suriyarachchi, Dharmapriya Dias, Shyam Fernando and Samadi Laksiri.
