Global Environmental Youth Education Foundation is the pioneer in Popularising Indian University education among the Sri Lankan students.
This is the brainchild of its founder and the Director General Mr.G.A.W.G.Galgamuwa ( Ex Lieutenant VNF ) , former Director , Foreign Affairs, National Youth Services Council. 'Not for profit, not for charity but for services' being his motto, he is a firm believer that an educated youth is an asset to the family, the country and the world. The first batch of students proceeded to Bangalore in 1994.
The primary concern in this
programme is
- To educate the youth in Sri Lanka as they are an asset to the country, providing disciplined graduates, fit to be executives.
- To introduce Commonwealth State University Degrees with worldwide recognition.
WAR HEROES - Many graduates have joined the armed forces and the police as officers to serve the country. Mr. Amodha G.A. completed his first degree in India and then proceeded to Netherlands to do his M.Sc . He returned to the country and joined the Navy as an officer.
Partial scholarship placements
The University of Mangalore has offered 50 placements for Sri Lankan students, the cost of which is between 2 to 3 Lakhs.

The Services do not end with sending students to India, and in fact a special bond continues to exist where they have career guidance programmes for graduates. Inauguration of the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates of Indian Universities was a historic event. The Assistant High Commission for India in Sri Lanka His Excellency Mr. Achal .K.Malhotra and the Chairman of the University Grant Commission Professor B.R.R.N.Mendis jointly inaugurated the association on June 30 2001 at the Queens Hotel ,Kandy.
Services accorded since 1994 .
1. A full Scholarship was offered to a Tsunami affected student. Shashikala a student of Southlands College.
2. Sponsorship programme is available for deserving students and12 such students have benefited.
3. Sponsored a government programme with the assistance of the Indian colleges to organise a workshop for 38 Principals and the Secretary in Bangalore. Few colleges such as T John Indian Academy , assisted in this regard.
4. Organises Guest lectures for students. GEYEF with KALYANA -SLICA - Kandy organised a guest lecture on ' Science Related Field of Studies to Meet the Challenges of future ' . The Guest speaker was Dr. T Somasekhar from university of Bangalore.
5. Motivation programme for students was conducted at THURSTAN COLLEGE. Colombo 3.
6. Bridging Programme- was conducted for students seeking admissions to any university, mainly to our registered students. For details contact 0777374588.

8. The membership of GEYEF is available for any Youth between the age group of 15 to 27. .
9. Special project is also implemented with the assistance of the Audio logy and Speech pathologists " Caring community for Children with Special needs"
GEYEF has a youth membership of 3095 and branches extend to India , Japan , UK . Australia and Netherlands. Indian Graduates are doing well in Sri Lanka and also in other countries.
