Hi!! Bookclub discusses iconic Lankan writer

The Hi!! Bookclub held its second meeting last Wednesday at the Colombo Hilton with a reading of ‘Uprooted’ – a translation of Gamperaliya by iconic Sri Lankan writer Martin Wickramasinghe.

The discussion was chaired by Prof Wimal Dissanayake, a leading authority on Asian cinema and the author of Enabling Traditions, a critical study of four of Sri Lanka’s foremost intellectuals, including Martin Wickramasinghe.

A short film on Martin Wickramasinghe titled ‘The Sage of Koggala’ was also shown.
