Bhajans and prayers will be held at the release of the book on Swami Premananda 'Swamiji and His Bhajans' today at Saraswathie Hall, Lorenz Road, Bambalapitiya.
The event is organized by Swami Premananda's devotees under the aegis of 'Mandru' Institute for Alternative Development and Regional Co-operation and the chief guest will be Justice C.V. Wigneswaran.
Currently Swami Premananda is serving a life sentence in a prison in Cadlora, in India, having been convicted of a murder and 13 charges of rape 15 years ago at his ashram in Tamil Nadu.
He has been imprisoned on false charges, claimed one of his devotees in Sri Lanka, Thalatha Perera.
Swami Premananda was born to a family in Matale and was named Ravi. He began meditating as a child, said Mrs. Perera. When people heard of him, they came to seem him. Later he moved to India and set up an ashram in Fathima Nagar.
