tournament.Lyceum Wattala were awarded the first lease of the wicket and got off to a poor start and were 4 wickets down for 40 runs at one stage, but some dogged batting by their middle order ensured that they stuttered to a score of 162 for 9 in the allotted 40 overs. S. Prabushitha top scored with a brave knock of 35 and V. Nadesan helped with 32. The Right arm off spinner N. Perera was the pick of the bowlers for the team from Nugegoda with figures of 3 for 22.
At this stage of the game this seemed to be a par score and the side which held their nerve could have won it from there.

Nugegoda had an achievable 10 runs to score of the last over from where they lost wickets at a rapid rate and ended up pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.
