"With women becoming more and more active in the area of sports, they are also more likely to be subject to sports related injuries when compared to men. The main reason for this may be the fact that women are not as strong as men physically in addition to this women also have certain structural differences when compared to men such as broader hips etc., which also contribute towards a higher percentage of suffering from sports injuries. Those individuals who are actively involved in games that require a great deal of running, stopping and changing of directions such as netball, basketball and soccer etc., are more likely to be subject to sports related injuries", says Dr. Ang.
When speaking on his main objective in visiting Sri Lanka, Dr. Ang said that his primary objective was to bring about sports medicine awareness in Sri Lanka. So far Dr. Ang has visited the Royal Colombo Gulf Club where he conducted a special programme of golfing injuries. In addition to this he has also visited certain locations in the Kandy area to spread the message of sports medicine. |
