'Creative Planet', an exhibition with a
difference, was
organised recently by Guides of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association's branch in Oman.
This unique exhibition, held at the Sri Lankan School, Muscat, was
inaugurated by the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Oman.
Seven action stations
highlighted different aspects of Guiding such as
handicrafts, first aid, camp gadgets, knotting skills,
cookery, World Guiding, and
needlework. On display in each of these action stations were creations of the Guides, ranging from informative charts about World Guiding and first aid to handicrafts, food items, and needlework. These bear testimony to the hard work that went in to make 'Creative Planet' the success that it was.
Ms. M. D. I. N. Siriwardane, Principal of the Sri Lankan School, Muscat, in her welcome address,
elaborated on the concept of Guiding and pointed out that it was synonymous with education and that it
prepared students to face challenges in their future lives.
Over 200 certificates for outstanding performance were distributed to the Little Friends and Girl Guides of the school.
Ms. Latha Somathilake, who spearheads the branch in Oman, commended the work of the Guides, attributing the success of 'Creative Planet' to their collective efforts. |
