A suspected ‘shoe-lifter’ was arrested recently in the premises of the Sri Dalada Maligawa by an alert policeman manning the police barrier .
There have been many instances where footwear of devotees have been stolenfrom the Maligawa premises, but very rarely have the culprits been apprehended.

Police Sergeant Wijepala on suspicion had stopped a man who was leaving the premises. But the suspect took to his heels. He was soon apprehended by the policeman who discovered that he had a pair of shoes with him that he couldn’t account for.
