Veteran journalist, lyricist and teledrama director Rodney Vithanapathirana’s latest book ‘Sancharaka Satahan-3’ (Travel Reports-3) was released recently.
This is the latest of Rodney who earlier wrote number of books based on the travel reports he contributed to various newspapers.
The book contains more than 25 articles about different places he had visited and recorded to the newspapers over the past few years. Most of the places that come in ‘Sancharaka Satahan’ are historically important and enlightening yet not visited by ordinary travellers and trippers.
‘The largest tea bush in Sri Lanka’, ‘Hot water wells in Mahaoya’, ‘visit to Baker’s Turn’, ‘Natural swimming pool in Ambalangoda’, ‘In search of Leonard Woolf to Meegahapandura’ and ‘South African village in Puttalam’ are some of the interesting and thought provoking articles that are included the book.
Not only entertaining places but also places that should win the attention of the authorities are also subjects of articles written by Rodney. The poverty stricken lives of Pollebedde Aadi Vaasis is an article that requires much attention of those authorities who are responsible responsible.
On the whole ‘Sancharaka Satahan’ is vital for all libraries and a must collection for those travellers who long to learn about scenic locations of Sri Lanka.
