Ship detained for defaulting payment

The detention of M.V. ‘Maldive Carrier’ was ordered by Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundera for its failure to pay US $ 493,035 together with Singapore $ 27,511.77 to Mid Oil Asia Pvt. Ltd., of Singapore for bunkering facilities and lubricants.

The ship belonging to Maldives National Shipping Limited is now anchored at the Port of Colombo.
Desmond Fernando, PC with Attorneys-at-Law Sandamal Rajapakse and Ms. Damayanthi Francis appeared for the plaintiff.
