Ban all parking under Dehiwela flyover

A fleet of assorted vehicles – private cars, vans, three-wheelers and so on – are parked under the newly built flyover at the Dehiwela junction.

Aren’t the relevant authorities aware of the potential security risks involved? Every day we read about hidden explosives being discovered in different parts of the country. What is the guarantee that such lethal cargo will not end up under the flyover inside a parked vehicle? Aren’t we being rather naïve to think that such security risks don’t exist any longer?

The fact that elaborate security measures are still in place for Ministers, VIPs and others speaks for itself.

There should be a strict ban on parking under the flyover, in the interest of public safety.
