We sing for Christmas

Animated voices filled the Bishop's College auditorium when the children of Young Minds Pre-School and Toddler Group presented 'We sing for Christmas', their annual Christmas concert last week. The audience was treated to a vibrant display of song and dance as the youngsters took the stage.

The evening started off with a short skit regaling Mabel the cat's quest for her lost kitten. The plot unfolded, as Mabel encounters a pack of mice, alley cats, hedgehogs, reindeer and even a smiling snowman in her hunt for her kitten. Mabel's efforts are eventually rewarded and she and her kitten are finally reunited thanks to a little help from a pack of ducks along the way.

The nativity story was also enacted by the children. Glittering stars, angels decked in heavenly attire,
people of various nationalities, animals of assorted shapes and sizes, the three kings in splendid attire and others who came from far and wide displayed their delight upon seeing baby Jesus.

The rest of the evening consisted of popular Christmas favourites, sung by the enthusiastic young choir.
The enjoyment displayed by the children was beautiful to behold and the enthusiasm on stage was infectious as the audience tapped their feet along to the music.

Mrs. Shermila Rajaratnam, Principal of Young Minds Pre-School explained to the Funday Times that music is an integral part at the school and that the children are introduced to aspects of music from as early as 18 months.

The night was rounded off by renditions of 'So this is Christmas' and 'Mistletoe and wine', among other carols sung by the teachers of the school along with the children.
