Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Santa Claus's gift
By Amasha Peiris (9 years), St. Bridget's Convent

One freezing cold, dark
Christmas night,
While I slept with my eyes shut tight,
Down from the chimney came a
red faced man,
With a snow-white beard and a
gift in his hand.

He put the gift near the
Christmas tree,
Where everyone could clearly see,
And he crept away upon the ground,
Without a very single sound.

In the morning sun when I woke up,
And drank my milk from a brand new cup,
At sight of the gift my cheeks gave a glow,
And the whisper saying
"Santa I love you so!"
