German clowns bring laughter to children

Laughter is free of charge! German "Clowns ohne Grenzen" made thousands of rural kids and adults laugh from coast to coast when they made a private visit to the country recently.

The children of the Jayawickreme Foundation in Denipitiya, Weligama, enjoyed three wonderful performances of the German "Clowns without borders".

For most of the audience it was a new experience -the music, songs, acrobatic and magic acts. They had not seen clowns before. Pure joy and delight were written on their faces.

People riding bicycles, motorbikes, three wheelers, buses and pedestrians stopped on the Old Akuressa Road in front of the Jayawickreme Foundation Education Centre in Denipitiya and watched in amazement at the colourful merry road block.

From the audience it was a heartfelt 'thank you' to the "Clowns ohne Grenzen" for bringing the gift of laughter to needy children and adults throughout the island.
