The main opposition United National Party (UNP) is to issue a special manifesto for the April 8 parliamentary elections pledging to work towards achieving gender equality.
With this in mind, the party will issue two manifestos, a main one and another for women, party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told the Sunday Times yesterday.
He said the main manifesto would be made public next Tuesday and the manifesto for women on Thursday.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said the party's election campaign in the Colombo district would begin tomorrow. A public rally in Jaffna would also be held on Friday, he said. |
