The Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka (ICCS) announced the commencement of registration of students for examinations pertaining to the Chartered Corporate Secretary qualification. This course has been carefully structured to equip students to meet the demands of a high profile career in the corporate sector. Those interested are encouraged to apply without delay to secure admission. Examinations will commence from end September this year and will be held thereafter in the months of March and September of the following years.
Lectures for the September 2010 examination will commence in May 2010. Lectures will be conducted at the Ladies' College Department of Vocational Studies in Colombo-3, the tuition providers for this course of study. The syllabi have been formulated to include a wide array of subjects which will enrich aspiring Chartered Corporate Secretaries in the relevant areas of their professional practice, bearing in mind the very high international standards demanded of and maintained by qualified Company Secretaries world over.
Students aspiring to qualify as Chartered Corporate Secretaries are required to complete the courses of study at the Foundation, Intermediate and Professional Levels. The Foundation level comprises Stage A which encompasses Business Management, Business Communication, Business Environment and Economics, and Stage B with Financial Accounting, Business Statistics, Human Resource Management and Corporate Administration as its subjects.
At Intermediate Level, students will be expected to complete Company Secretarial Practice, Business Law, Capital markets and Regulations, Management Accounting and Corporate Planning which then leads onto two parts at Professional Level. Part I at Professional Level has Advanced Company Secretarial Practice, Corporate Law and Corporate Financial Management as its subjects, while Part II has Corporate Governance, Taxation and Industrial Law within its purview. Finally, a Case Study will be presented by the students on a relevant subject of their choice.
A separate shorter scheme has also been designed for those wishing to opt for a Diploma in Company Secretarial Practice. |
