Alan Ernst, solo Jazz pianist will come alive on Friday, 23 April at 7.30 pm at the Park Street Mews
A Fulbright Scholar and Assistant Professor Dr Alan Ernst is a jazz musician formerly based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. For the last few years he has been working abroad, most recently at the Sofitel Metropole in Hanoi as a solo jazz pianist.
Previously he worked for four years as the music director for Interact center for the Performing Arts, a theater group with all disabled actors. He has performed at numerous venues in the United States and abroad, including the Hanoi International Music Festival in 2009. He has a fondness for free improvisation and modern jazz.
He will perform tunes by Ellington, Monk, Coltrane and Mingus as well as spontaneous unplanned free improvisations of his own.
Local Jazz artists will join him at the end of the show for a short Jazz Jam. Park Street Mews has been the host venue for many events - from Lit Talks to Int’l Jazz and musical events.
