Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya,
a government primary school at Ananda Rajakaruna Mawatha, Colombo 10, was awarded the
ISO 9001:2008, in April 2010.
The Quality Management Systems of the school has been assessed by the International Certification Services Pvt. Ltd., of India, and
registered as complying with the International Standard
ISO 9001:2008.

The scope of the award is 'Providing Education to Primary Level Female Students from Grade One to Grade Five'.
Sangamitta B.V., was established in 1890 and at present,
conducts classes from Grade One to Grade Five, with seven parallel classes in each grade. Over 1,500 students are taught by fifty-two dedicated teachers.
Sangamitta has a
well-maintained premises, with clean, neatly kept classrooms.
The school has developed into a model school with colour codes for different grades and classes. Each of the
parallel classes is named for a flower and carries a corresponding colour, used for items such as
table-coths, book covers and water bottles. Each grade also has an
identifying colour for school bags.
The dedication of the principals and teachers over the years, with the co-operation of the parents, has been rewarded, by the school
winning Provincial and National Productivity Awards in 2005 and 2006 as well as an award for the 'Best Environment Friendly School' in 2008, culminating in the recent
international ISO 9001 award.
The current principal Mrs. V.E. Jayaweera has been at the helm since 2006.
