Love O Careless Love

Recently a screaming lady had emerged from the Citadel and it is said that the wailing had been due to the fact that a male compatriot had tried to be amorous with her. The lady is now contemplating on taking legal advice as she cannot go back to the Citadel because of this situation and she is badly in need of a job. How amorous can these Citadel types be?

Words are easy to be spoken
A leading spinner is reported to have taken advantage of the words spoken by a high individual who had said that he should remain until the World Cup is over in 2011. The bowler concerned is now taking advantage of this and wants to continue playing the game on all fronts until he drops dead! In a country where cricket is thriving and there is ample young talent, is this the correct attitude to be taken by a world class spinner who is now said to be over the hill?

Standing is better than sitting

A top official of the NOC did not have a seat at a recent ceremony to greet a torch that was brought to the island to commemorate the staging of a sporting event in India during October. This official lagged behind because he had no place to sit and was found standing while other top personnel such as ambassadors and big wigs were a pampered lot at the event staged at a five star hotel by a lake. The official was unconcerned… However is this way to treat one of our top sports figures?

Cold shouldered

The local press was cold shouldered at a recent football final. The only solace that they got was a bottle of water while officials enjoyed the situation to the hilt. Not that the press boys were complaining but the manner in which they were treated at this gathering was rather a low shot. Not done chaps!

Losing to a pattern?

A leading rugby school by the sea is being suspected of taking banned drugs to enhance their performances. The organizing body has decided to conduct random tests in schools rugby to find out the truth in these games. It is now said that this school have resorted to lose their games as a ploy to tell all and sundry that not only can they win, but that they can lose as well.

Empty Citadel

The Citadel was empty except for the security on Thursday when the final of the Asia Cup was worked off in distant Dambulla. It looks as if the Citadel had declared an unofficial holiday because of this big game. Only the security was at hand to answer any queries.
