The Sri Lanka Air Force Iranamadu,
celebrated its first anniversary on June 21, 2010 with a day full of social activities. A medical camp and several
programs were conducted to mark the occasion at the Ramanathapuram Central College. A free
dental and medical clinic run by the Air Force drew large crowds of people. Several wheelchairs were donated to differently able civilians and to those who were disabled by war.
One of the six
wheelchairs was gifted to a six year old boy who was injured by indiscriminate mortar fire by the LTTE.
Stationery items and school bags were donated to some 350 students at the school. The students of Ramanathapuram Central College displayed their
artistic talents at a colourful concert held to mark the occasion.
The Air Force band
entertained the villagers to an evening of song and music bringing joy and laughter to part of the country which once only knew terror and war.
