Wake up, Dehiwala Police before it’s too late

Recent reports suggest a clear decline in the services provided by the Dehiwela Police. Here is another example.

The chaotic Karagampitiya Sunday pola is a stone’s throw away from the Dehiwela Police Station. It is unbelievable what is going on at the pola, and under the very noses of the police. Indifference and laziness are the only explanations.

In the past, the late Minister C. V. Gooneratne would make surprise visits to the pola, and everything was in order. There was a move-on order for all motorists, and a parking lot was found for their vehicles. The police were very visible, and they maintained order. Today, the police are conspicuous by their absence.

Many like to do their shopping from the comfort of their cars or three-wheelers, or from their motor-bikes and push cycles, blocking the way for others.

Are the Dehiwela Police waiting for a major accident to occur before they take action?

OIC Dehiwela, over to you.

Mrs. D. Peiris, Dehiwela
