Thousand of devotees flock to the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy daily to worship the Sacred Tooth Relic. Surprisingly, there are only two toilets to cater to the needs of the multitudes who throng the premises.
These are small and difficult to locate too. However, there are toilets at the Maligawa precincts for the exclusive use of tourists.
There is ample space behind the former Kachcheri which now houses the High Courts and behind the former District Courts to build some much needed toilets and I don’t think financing such a project would be a problem.
The officials concerned, the Diyawadana Nilame in particular should address this problem
