Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The disastrous war
By Jude Shannon Lucian (11 years), St. Anthony’s College, Kandy

The war was like bush fire,
Spreading everywhere,
War here and war there,
Peace was a dream.

Here, there, everywhere,
Everything was ruined,
Weapons ruined the beautiful nature,
And the animals were injured too.

But what a miracle!
After three decades,
The dream came true,
And we enjoy this peace.

Religious places torn apart,
Towns smashed to the ground.
A dog or cow hops with three legs,
It is a sorrowful sight to see.

At last we are free!
After years of war,
I see buildings rising back,
This was my experience,
When I visited Jaffna.
