Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The fisherman

By Amri Faleel (11 years), Wesley College

The fisherman is a busy bee,
From dawn to dusk he’s in the sea.
Come rain, come sun,
he faces all,
For he has to answer his family’s call.

After tiresome journey he’s ashore,
Worn out, fagged, weather beaten and sore.
But he’s happy he keeps the home fires aglow,
So that all can survive ever more.

This is not all his agony,
He has to go from house to house…
Shouting, “Maalu, maalu, thora, paraw!!”
Some may shun him, some may buy,
When he comes home, he’s happy somehow!
