Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Memories of the tsunami

By Akash Liyanage (13 years), Lyceum Int. School, Nugegoda

December 26, 2004, left such a disastrous sight,
The tsunami rushed with all its might,
Thousands of people suffered its unforgivable plight,
And that fateful past cannot be driven out of sight.

Buildings destroyed everywhere,
People killed here and there,
Innocent lives lost far and wide,
Its tragic end will forever reside.

The tragic memories will never end,
For those who lost their beloved friends,
The past can never be put aside,
For the beloved who struggled and died.

Yet, my friends there is still hope,
For those who survived forever more,
To relieve them of their past redemption,
And to offer them peaceful salvation.
