St. Sebastian’s coasted to their third outright win with a crushing ten wicket win over Thurstan in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Moratuwa yesterday.
Opener Deshan Dias who made a knock off 101 on the opening day laid the foundation for their outright victory as he helped his side to end the day in a strong position on 219 for 5. This was in reply to Thurstan’s 210.
The second day’s play yesterday saw the Sebs resuming on their overnight score. They went on to make a formidable 304 and then had Thurstan struggling at 46 for 4 at lunch.

The post lunch session saw Thurstan making a recovery with a useful knock of 53 coming from Supun Navaratne but the others failed to make any impression and they were bowled out for 172. This left the home team just 79 runs for victory which they needed just 12 overs to reach the target.
Incidentally Thurstan’s Sachith Dias completed his 50 wickets for the season in this game.

Skipper Imras guides Zahira
An all round performance by skipper Imras Rafi helped Zahira to defeat Maris Stella by 130 runs at Maradana yesterday. Thus they recorded their third outright win of the season.
Zahira dominated the proceedings on both days and put themselves in a winning position in the morning’s session’s play on day two.
Maris Stella resuming on their overnight score of 107 for 6 did not last long as they were only able to add a further nine runs being bowled out for 116. Zahira batting the second time was spearheaded by skipper Imras who made an unbeaten ton which helped them make a score of 222 for 4 declared.
This left Maris Stella a target of 335 but were able to make a score of only 204.
