Kandy SC AGM today
By Aubrey Kuruppu
Kandy SC holds its Annual General Meeting today (Sunday) at 10 am at the club premises at Nittawela.
Former Vidyartha and Trinity player Saliya Kumara, as versatile as they come, will be leading the club in the forthcoming season.
The club officials will meet shortly to map out strategies and tactics in the face of a three pronged attack. The Navy, CR & FC and the Air Force are literally breathing down Kandy SC’s neck. Their resilience, talent, commitment and skill, one feels, will be fully tested in the weeks ahead.

Army Colours Nite on Jan 27
The Army Colours Nite 2010 will take place on January 27 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. This major event honouring sportsmen and women, who had brought honour to the country, had not been held since 1997 due to the war situation which had prevailed in the country.

Now that peace has returned, the Defense Services Colours too will take place on January 27 together with the Army Colours Nite. 1109 sportsmen and women representing 28 sports are eligible for Army Colours and 340 Army sportsmen/women are eligible for Defence Services Colours in 21 sporting events.

Several differently-able sportsmen are also due to receive Colours. Due to the difficulty of awarding Colours to all 1449 sportsmen/women at the Colours Nite, 100 selected sportsmen/wpmen will be awarded and the rest will receive their Colours at events organized at Regimental level.
