The initiative, one of the first of its kind in the island, manifests the ties between India and Sri Lanka, in view of encouraging the entrance of foreign Universities to the country, will certainly pave the way for many other institutes to follow suit. Speaking at the event, Minister Dissanayake said that he was elated at the opening of the Campus and that he honours the commitment of everyone involved in shaping up the Campus to what it is today. This is a good opportunity for students who do not manage to enter state universities; Sri Lanka is an academically wealthy country and the number of applicants for external degrees has risen remarkably over the years, so this is a constructive platform to have exposure to overseas standards of education. Plans are under way to set up a monitoring body to invigilate what is offered too. Be it state or private campus, the quality of teaching is the main component which helps an institute flourish, the Minister concluded.
Mr Manish in his speech said that education is the main attribute in the multi-faceted partnerships between Sri Lanka and India. Nearly 2000 Sri Lankan students apply to study in India annually and are confident that this will enable more students to have access to the high level of education and will only strengthen the links between both countries.
Elaborating on the calibre of students iNurture has nurtured into the job world, Mr Ashwin Ajila said that the top three awards for Animation in India were fetched by students of INurture in the last two years and is hopeful in having Sri Lankan students join such celebrated calibre in the near future through the standards of courses they have created.
Doctor Egerton Senanayake in his vote of thanks said he was extremely pleased at the pace in which the setup of the campus has progressed. He thanked the Minister for all support extended to the project from the inception of the idea back in 2009. An invitation of a formal tour of the campus extended to the main guests and media personnel marked the end of the Inauguration proceedings.
