Sri Lankan philanthropist Jai Lameer who pioneered the Mercy Mission (Guy's Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Mercy Mission) of a team from Guy's hospital in London visiting Sri Lanka annually to conduct heart operations on critically ill children died in London last month.
The funeral took place in Croydon, Surrey on January 12. He is survived by his wife Jayanthi, children Soraya and Shahan and grandchildren Ayesha and Jayantha. The following is a tribute from a grateful father of a child whose life was saved through the Mercy Mission
You are that human
Who came as a blessing
From God
When I was helpless
In my life
You've been a father
A close relation
When we were drowning
In the ocean of worries
You are the saviour
Who saved
Hundreds of children
You were the one
Who gave life and hope
To helpless patients
You are the one
Who understood the 'beat' of their hearts
And consoled them
Do you remember
A tiny heart was touched
With a wonderful hand
By chance, a hand
From heaven
As a human
Though, one dark day
You were stolen from us
We shed tears
For you
Not only today, but tomorrow
And every day
Because you've gone from us
Our meeting is a strong bond
That will not break
I wish you Jennathul Firdous
