Foreign investments in equity and capital market in Sri Lanka show a net inflow of foreign investments amounting to Rs.51.8 billion ($459 million) last year, the Central Bank’s Exchange Control Department said last week.
It said there was an inflow of funds amounting to Rs.215.9 billion (approximately $1.9 billion) to these accounts and the outflow on account of repatriation of investments as well as dividends/income amounting to Rs.164.1 billion (approximately $ 1.4 billion).
In terms of exchange control regulations, foreign investments into the equity and capital market in Sri Lanka are routed through Securities Investment Accounts (SIA), maintained by licensed commercial banks, the bank said. |
