Eraj appointed Chairman -Hotels Classification Committee

Veteran hotelier Eraj Abeywardane has been appointed Chairman of the Hotels Classification Committee by the board of management of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

Mr Abeywardene, who has wide experience in the hotel sector, is a fellow of the Institute of Hospitality UK and a past Chairman of the Institute of Hospitality, Sri Lanka Chapter.

He was also the President of the Colombo City Tourist Hotels Association and has been a committee member of the Hotels Classification Committee for the past 12 years. The new Hotel Classification criteria to become law in the near future, will make it mandatory for all hotels to be classified under the new classification criteria, Mr Abeywardene’s office said in a statement.
