Sri Lanka’s retired test medium pacer Chaminda Vaas strongly believes that his team will bounce back from their defeat in the first test at Cardiff and give the Englishman a fight in the remaining two test matches and the upcoming One day Series.
“We have a lot of talented players over there. They need some time to adjust to the big league. I am confident that sooner or later they will come good and play to their potential. There is no purpose in relying on the Muralitharans and Vaases any more. It is up to the youngsters to grab the given opportunity and perform”, said Vaas who was speaking to the Sunday Times from England.
The veteran left armer who is having another good season with his county Northampton shire ruled out playing test cricket again. “I have retired from test cricket. You cannot be playing the longer version of the game for so long. Currently I am enjoying my cricket with Northants and I have a full season with them and I m very happy to be a part of this County”.
When asked if he would consider playing in the Limited Over version for his country Vass replied saying “That is something that I need to consider if I am given the opportunity again”. Vaas said in conclusion. |
