The Lanka Financial Services for Underserved Settlements (LFSUS) is assisting low income families in Deniyaya in a project worth Rs.5.88 million. Teaming up with Hatton National Bank (HNB) and Sewalanka Community Financial Services Ltd (Sewa Finance), LFSUS focused on uplifting the livelihoods of 51 families in a project launched on May 20, it said in a press release.
The selected community originates from the areas of Kolowenigama, Ullinduwawa, Kotapola, Kolonne and Deniyaya City. Nihal Kandanarachchi (Head of Operations – Sewa Finance) speaking at the launch pointed out the importance of micro financing and how individuals can benefit through such schemes.
Vishwa Gunawardena (Senior Manager – Development Banking, HNB) encouraged borrowers to wisely handle the money towards house upgrading and engage genuinely, while Ms. Ayanthi Gurusinghe (CEO – LFSUS) emphasized how LFSUS operates and the contribution towards uplifting of low income earners. |
