ICMA Australia seminar on ‘Upswing Economies’

ICMA Australia has organised a seminar on the theme ‘Are we ready for the paradigm shift in upswing economies?’ to be held next month, at the Galle Face Hotel. The seminar titled 'New Directions for Management Accounting in Upswing Economies’ is targeted at operational and strategic level managers.

An eminent panel of business leaders will discuss different industry outlooks. Prof. Janek Ratnatunga, Head of School Commerce, Division of Business, City West Campus, University of South Australia will head the first session which will be moderated by Trihan Perera, Director Strategy and Business Development, Hemas Holdings. Panelists at this session will be Asanga Ranasinghe, Marketing Director – Home Care and Foods, Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd; Indrajith Fernando, CEO, Bartleet Transcapital Limited and Ravi Fernando, Executive in Residence, INSEAD Social Innovation Centre.

The second session will explore if management accounting reports fill the gap when financial accounting and audit reports provide information largely irrelevant to modern corporations for decision is making purposes.

This session panellists include Leon Duval, CEO ICMA Australia; Dinesh Weerakkody, Managing Director, Cornucopia Sri Lanka; Rienzie Wijetilleke, former Chairman Hatton National Bank; Asite Talwatte, Country Managing Partner, Ernst & Young Sri Lanka and Husein Esufally - CEO, Hemas Holdings.
