Pin Fernando Golf Grand Prix 2011

The inaugural Pin Fernando Golf Grand Prix gets underway at the picturesque Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Kandy and will be played over four rounds starting Tuesday 5th July.

This event, conducted by the Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU), was conceived mainly to assist talented golfers who are not members of any golf club to achieve and maintain National and Amateur rankings maintained by R&A which is the Governing body for Golf worldwide. There will be 12 monthly events of 4 rounds each played over 4 days at golf courses recognized by the SLGU.

The family of the late Pin Fernando, Sri Lanka’s golfing legend, came forward to support this event. Despite the recent demise of their mother Pam Fernando who in her own right has made her mark in the golfing world, the family insisted on meeting their commitment to support the development of golf in Sri Lanka.
