The Interact Club at Wycherley International School, Colombo, has been active during the past year. “The Board of 2010 / 2011 started off the year
promising change, striving to revive and establish the club that has in recent years been in decline, and I’m glad to say we were able to fulfill that promise”, says Anuruddha Higgoda, the
current president of the club.

Much of the high school is now involved in the club,
taking their own time to help out their community. They commenced the year by
holding workshops for the interacters to understand what the Interact Club was all about, its purpose and what it meant for people.
Numerous projects were carried out since then, firstly, ‘Project Mannar’ with Unity Mission, a humanitarian organization, where they helped out at a health camp in the Vidutaltivu area, as well as donating about
Rs. 43,000 worth of Anchor full cream milk powder and Lux soap to residents there.
They also donated socks to the Roman Catholic Tamil Maha Vidyalaya of Wanathamulla, as well as raising Rs. 30,000 to conduct two health camps for monks in Colombo, Kotte and other areas.
The interacters didn’t
forget our environment either, giving up their
weekend to clean up the Galle Face Green.
These students gained a lot from being part of this club, now being more aware of the community as well as portraying good citizenship. “I wish the incoming board the best of luck and hope they have a successful year ahead, lifting the club to greater heights than previously done”, concluded Anuruddha.
