At first, it was a case of going green, and then, onto the sale of vegetables and fruits, followed by conducted sea tours for whale and dolphin watching, and now, it is the Hospitality industry for the off-duty Sri Lankan Navy (SLN).

The courtyard at the Lighthouse Galley |
On Monday this week, the SLN opened what they described as an upmarket place to wine and dine, situated at Chaytiya Mawatha, also known as Turret Road, adjoining the grand old lighthouse in Colombo Fort.
Called the “Lighthouse Galley”, it has a spacious dining facility that offers a panoramic view overlooking the alluring blue waters of the Indian Ocean and shaded by the centuries-old lighthouse.
Not only that, “Lighthouse Galley” has six open food courts offering the local Kottu, Sri Lankan, Indian, and Chinese cuisine, along with a variety of soft drinks.
No restaurant, upmarket or otherwise, is complete without strong spirits, and towards this end, the place has a well stocked bar with local and foreign liquors and liqueurs to suit any clientele.
The air-conditioned enclosure also provides privacy for family gatherings both for naval personnel and civilians. |
