Mount Lavinia hotel car park turns into doggy mobile clinic

The Tourist Board of the Western Province along with a German-based organisation, the Tsunami Animal People Alliance (TAPA) carried out a mobile animal clinic for stray dogs at the car park of the Mount Lavinia hotel yesterday.

The clinic led by Martin Fullerton from Germany started the programme in Negombo last month and they will go to Tangalle in November, Western Province Tourism Secretary Claude Thomasz said.

According to Mr. Fullerton they were able to attend to 40 dogs on day one of their seven-day programme at Mount Lavinia, adding that in Negombo they had attended to 187 strays.
