World Interact Week is celebrated every year during the week of November 5 to commemorate the founding of the first Interact club by Harold.T.Thomas in 1962.
To mark this occasion Interactors and Rotarians around the world, Interact clubs, in partnership with their sponsored Rotary clubs, are encouraged to participate in joint projects during World Interact Week.
Towards this end while the Interact Club of St.Bridget’s Convent (ICSBC) looks to celebrating interact week, it also looks back on the ICSBC which was started 26 years ago. The club has more than 90 members and is one of the most active clubs among schools in Sri Lanka.
ICSBC has completed many successful projects in the past years aiming to help the community, the school and also the Interact movement. Some of the main projects done by St Bridget’s Convent were ‘Aids Walk’( Joint project with St Peters College), ‘Project Give Away’, ‘Stravagante’ and ‘Bridging Continents with a Heart Beat’( Joint project with USA). These projects were all aimed at helping the community.
ICSBC has throughout its history encouraged Interactors to develop leadership skills and to work hard and respect others irrespective of caste or creed. To develop international understanding and appreciate the traditions and cultures of other countries is another important aspect that the club looks to foster among its members. |
