It's rare to find an event that encompasses all three language media but the Festival of Art 2011, presented by the Lionel Wendt Memorial Fund held in commemoration of the 111th birth anniversary of Lionel Wendt managed just that.
Starting off with the Tamil play 'Chekku' , audiences enjoyed a superlative performance of 'Bernada ge Sipiri Geya' on Thursday followed by 'Bakamuna Weedi Basi' on Friday and four short plays in English on Saturday.
The grand finale on the drama front is the play Charandas- Winner of the State Literary Award in 2009, written and directed by Parakrama Niriella which goes on the boards at 7.p.m. tonight. Tickets are available at the Wendt.
Take the opportunity also to catch the two art and sculpture exhibitions -one by contemporary artists at the Lionel Wendt gallery and the other by veteran H.A. Karunaratne at the Harold Peiris Gallery, both on today. |
