Kasun Karunaratne emerges Junior National champion

10m air rifle event

Kasun Karunaratne of Negambo Rifle Club emerged the junior National Champion scoring 563 points out of 600 in the 10m air rifle event which was held at the Navy shooting range Walisara on November 28 this year.

Because of this success he was recommended by the National Rifle Association for a sponsorship of Walther Hammerli AR20 air rifle from the Veritas Technologies to further improve his skills in this field.
Kasun is a student of Royal College Colombo and a member of the Negombo Rifle Club. Kasun was born in July 1991. His father is Major General Sanath Karunaratne (now retired), was Security Services Commander, Wanni and was directing counter terrorist operations at that time.

The Award ceremony took place on December 4 where Udaya R. Senaviratne, Secretary Ministry of Sports was the chief guest. The National Championships 2011 was organized by the National Shooting Sports Federation of Sri Lanka.
