SLIA Social Service Project 2011 - Visit to the City Home for Elders and Children

It was a happy day in the otherwise uneventful lives of the 110 inmates of the City Home for Elders and Children, Battaramulla - managed by the Colombo Municipal Council, when the Council and Staff of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects visited this home for the destitute on 27th August 2011.

The inmates enjoyed a sumptuous lunch and tea with the Council and the staff of the SLIA and enjoyed watching a cartoon and a Sinhala movie. The visitors mingled freely with the inmates talking and exchanging pleasantries. The SLIA presented 2 commode chairs and a commode seat - equipment much needed by the elder inmates of the home.

The visitors took away and left behind lasting happy memories. Thus concluded the Social Service Project 2011 which was funded entirely by the willing contributions of the Council and Members and the Secretariat of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects.
