Air quality to be monitored as pollution rises- CEA

The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) is to commence monitoring air quality, in the wake of increased air pollution within the main towns, Chairman Charitha Herath told the Sunday Times.
He said that, initially, the machines will be installed in Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Galle where the air quality will be monitored continuously.

He said that the quality will be automatically stored and will be helpful to the CEA to take necessary remedial action.

The President has appointed eight new Ministerial Secretaries this year. They are Dr R.H.S. Samaratunga - Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Industries, B.M.U.D. Sakalasuriya – Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Lalith Kannangara – Secretary, Ministry of Productivity Improvement, K.M.T. Sudharma Karunaratne – Secretary, Ministry of Plantation Industries and Ms. Kamalini de Silva – Secretary, Ministry of Justice
